| Vicente Padilla emerged from his second straight ineffective start for the Texas Rangers with a sore collarbone, a bruised right thumb and an inflated ERA.
Freddie Bynum had three RBIs after being added to the lineup shortly before game time, and the Baltimore Orioles roughed up Padilla in a 10-4 win Friday.

| Daniel Cabrera pitched a seven-hitter to earn his first victory since May 20, Aubrey Huff homered and the Baltimore Orioles beat Gil Meche and the Kansas City Royals 5-2 Wednesday night.
Cabrera (6-4) retired 13 straight batters before David DeJesus singled with two outs in the eighth inning. The right-hander struck out two and walked none in his second complete game of the season, both of which have come against the Royals.

| Albers chooses rehab over surgery for shoulder |

| Orioles right-hander Matt Albers decided Wednesday to attempt to rehabilitate his ailing right shoulder rather than have surgery on a torn labrum.
Albers was placed on the 15-day disabled list last Thursday after an MRI revealed the injury.
"I'm still optimistic I'll be able to pitch this year," Albers said last week. "I don't really want to have surgery. I don't think anyone really wants to."

| George Sherrill would have been happy with a night off.
The Baltimore Orioles closer had blown two straight save opportunities by yielding late-inning home runs, yet circumstances called for the left-hander to hold on to a ninth-inning lead against the Kansas City Royals.
Fortunately, Sherrill had plenty of margin for error.

| The Baltimore Orioles' carousel at shortstop took another whirl Tuesday when the team placed Alex Cintron on the 15-day disabled list and recalled Freddie Bynum from Triple-A Norfolk.

| Miguel Olivo homered off George Sherrill with two outs in the ninth to force extra innings, and Jose Guillen singled in the tiebreaking run in the 11th to give Kansas City a 6-5 comeback victory over Baltimore on Monday night.
The Royals rallied from a four-run deficit to win their sixth straight on the road, the team's longest run since 1999. The victory also ended Kansas City's seven-game losing streak at Camden Yards.
