Orioles 10, Rangers 4
Fri July 4, 2008 8:55 pm
Vicente Padilla emerged from his second straight ineffective start for the Texas Rangers with a sore collarbone, a bruised right thumb and an inflated ERA. Freddie Bynum had three RBIs after being added to the lineup shortly before game time, and the Baltimore Orioles roughed up Padilla in a 10-4 win Friday. Adam Jones and Brandon Fahey both drove in two runs and scored twice for the Orioles, who built an 8-1 lead in the third inning...Continue

Albers chooses rehab over surgery for shoulder
Wed July 2, 2008 7:48 pm
Orioles right-hander Matt Albers decided Wednesday to attempt to rehabilitate his ailing right shoulder rather than have surgery on a torn labrum. Albers was placed on the 15-day disabled list last Thursday after an MRI revealed the injury. "I'm still optimistic I'll be able to pitch this year," Albers said last week. "I don't really want to have surgery. I don't think anyone really wants to." Before making a final decision, Albers got a second opinion Wednesday from orthopedic surgeon Dr...Continue

Orioles 7, Royals 5
Tue July 1, 2008 11:18 pm
George Sherrill would have been happy with a night off. The Baltimore Orioles closer had blown two straight save opportunities by yielding late-inning home runs, yet circumstances called for the left-hander to hold on to a ninth-inning lead against the Kansas City Royals. Fortunately, Sherrill had plenty of margin for error. Despite surrendering a two-run single, Sherrill earned his 27th save by getting the final two outs in a 7-5 victory Tuesday night...Continue

The Baltimore Orioles' carousel at shortstop took another whirl Tuesday when the team placed Alex Cintron on the 15-day disabled list and recalled Freddie Bynum from Triple-A Norfolk. He was given the starting job after the Orioles designated Bynum for assignment on June 22...Continue

Seven different players had RBIs, and eight starters had at least one hit. A balanced attack by the Baltimore Orioles produced a lopsided victory, one that disappointed the majority of the history-making crowd at Washington's new ballpark. Luke Scott and Ramon Hernandez homered, Adam Jones matched his career high with four hits, and the Orioles cruised past the Nationals 9-1 Saturday night in a game interrupted by rain for 63 minutes. Jones led a crowded hit parade for Baltimore...Continue

Orioles-Nationals Preview
Thu June 26, 2008 9:49 pm
The Baltimore Orioles are coming off one of their best games at the plate this season. Facing the Washington Nationals gives their lineup a good chance to build some momentum. After an impressive series win over the major league's top team, the Orioles will try to take advantage of a lowly Nationals pitching staff when the teams open a three-game interleague series Friday night. Baltimore (40-37) collected 13 hits en route to an 11-4 win over the major league-leading Chicago Cubs on Thursday...Continue

Orioles take series from Cubs
Thu June 26, 2008 7:28 pm
When Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella saw his interleague schedule, he was relieved. The Cubs were matched up against the American League East this season, but didn't draw the Yankees or the Red Sox. Turns out, he should've been worried about the Rays and the Orioles. Aubrey Huff had four hits and two RBIs, Jay Payton drove in three runs and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Cubs 11-4 Thursday to become the second team to win a series at Wrigley Field this season...Continue
